PM Internship Scheme 2024: The Prime Minister (PM) Internship Scheme 2024 has been launched by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India. Registrations for the scheme began on 12th October 2024. This program offers one-year (12-month) internships, providing candidates with valuable industry exposure.

A total of 307 companies have yet to post their internship requirements on the official portal With the help of these PM Internship Scheme Opportunities, the students can enhance their skills and understand real business concepts.

What is the PM Internship Scheme 2024?

The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme is a flagship initiative by the Government of India to provide young individuals with internship opportunities in India’s top 500 companies.

The program offers hands-on exposure to real-world business environments across various sectors, enabling participants to acquire practical skills and work experience. The scheme aims to provide 1 crore internships to youth over a period of five years, empowering them for future career success.

PM Internship Scheme 2024 Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates who have passed High School or Higher Secondary School, possess a certificate from an ITI, hold a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or are graduates with degrees such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, etc. are eligible.

Who is not eligible for the PM Internship scheme?

You are not eligible to apply for the PM Internship Scheme if:

• You are below 21 years or above 24 years of age (as on the last date for
  application submission).
• You are currently engaged in full-time employment or full-time education.
• You have graduated from specific institutions like IITs, IIMs, National Law
  Universities, IISER, NIDs, or IIITs.
• You hold qualifications such as CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, PhD, or any
  master’s or higher degree (recognized by the UGC).
• You are undergoing any skill, apprenticeship, internship, or training programme
  under a Central or State Government scheme.
• You have already completed an apprenticeship under the National
  Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or National Apprenticeship Promotion
  Scheme (NAPS).
• The income of any of your family members (self, parents, or spouse) exceeds ₹8
  lakh for FY 2023-24.
• Any member of your family (self, parents, or spouse) is a permanent/regular government employee (excluding contractual employees). “Government”
  includes Central and State Governments, Union Territory administrations, Central and State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), statutory organizations, and local bodies.

PM Internship Scheme 2024 Benefits

Monthly assistance to the interns:

• Monthly assistance of Rs. 5,000 will be paid to the interns for the entire duration of 12 months of the internship. Out of this, every month the company, based on the attendance and related company policies regarding good conduct, etc. will release Rs.500/- to each intern from the Company’s CSR funds.
• Once the Company makes the payment, the Government will pay Rs.4,500 to the candidate through Direct Benefit Transfer to the intern’s Aadhaar-bank account.
• In case, any Company wishes to provide monthly assistance over and above Rs.500, it may do so from its own funds.

Grant for incidentals:

• A one-time grant for incidentals of 16,000 will be disbursed to each intern by the government through Direct Benefit Transfer, upon the intern’s joining at the internship location.

Insurance coverage:

• Insurance coverage shall be provided to each individual intern under insurance schemes of the Government of India, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, for which premium amount shall be provided by Government. In addition, the company may also provide additional accidental insurance coverage to the interns.

PM Internship Scheme 2024 Shortlisting and Selection Process

• A pool of candidates would be shortlisted for each internship opportunity through the Portal.
• The shortlisting process will be based on the candidates’ preferences and the requirements posted by the companies.
• In the shortlisting process, criteria that prioritize lower employability and ensure broader representation across the applicant base will be considered.

How to apply for the PM internship scheme 2024?

STEP 1: All the young citizens of India who want to register under the PM Internship Scheme are requested to visit the official website.

STEP 2: Click on the option called youth registration.

STEP 3: On the new page the citizens must enter their Adhaar Card link mobile number and click on the option “submit”.

STEP 4: A registration form will appear on your screen the citizens must enter all the details that are asked and attach all the necessary documents.

STEP 5: After entering all the details the citizens must quickly review it and click on the option “submit” to complete their process.
